Changed perception

As I rushed home from work one day last week, looking forward to getting in my jammy jams and cooking up some grub, I opened the door to the most horrific stink. The unmistakable smell of burnt (burned?) coffee. Ech. I'm not naming names but someone else who lives in this house that is not me likes to make coffee before this particular person leaves for work and sometimes the coffee pot is not turned off. Usually it leads to a half inch of stinky concentrated sludge, but today it was a doozy. There had been barely any (if any at all) coffee left in the pot, so the result was a totally burned coffee pot.

I picked it up with disgust and grabbed my camera phone to take an accusing picture to send to the culprit. It was brown, gross, and crusty. However, as I looked at the picture before sending, I realized that it looked kind of beautiful, no? If anything, it make me take a moment to stop and smell look at the roses, so it was a bit of a win for the home team in the end.

Follow up questions I know you're asking in your head:
1. How have you been able to survive without a coffee pot? No worries, I soaked it and it is now perfectly clean again.
2. Did you send the scathing text, or did you change your tune and thank someone for leaving you such a precious gift? Of course I sent the bitchy text. I'm a woman. Don't tell.
