This weekend I had the opportunity to meet the best guy friend of my
best guy friend who I had not previously met. We had that moment upon
meeting when he went to shake my hand and I went in for a hug (because,
duh…we’re both best friends with the same best friend, which makes us
step-best friends or some other weird connective relationship, right?).
I’d be lying if I said that was the first (or fifth) time I’ve done
that.
It’s just kind of a weird situation, where you see pictures of the
other person and hear stories about them so often that you feel like you
know them…but you don’t.
My personal belief is that if you can ever skip over the ‘getting to
know someone’ phase and cut right to the friendship you should. I’m not
one for small talk or censoring my thoughts, so I feel like it’s just
easier and more fun to go from ‘so I hear you’re an accountant’ to ‘did I
tell you about the time I sharted in church?’ as soon as possible.
Am I alone in this thought?
Does this have anything to do with anything? (No, it does not.)
