I've been feeling a teeny bit under the weather, but I took the day off of work today to rest up and I'm absolutely getting my run in this afternoon. I got some new running pants (leggings!), some new running jackets with fancy thumb holes, and my new watch to time myself and I'm excited to show them off. Last week I completed the first week of Couch to 5K (C25K), which was three days of the following:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
I did that on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday and Friday were outside and Wednesday was inside on a treadmill. I definitely prefer the outdoor runs to the indoor ones, probably because I feel like a badass running in the snow! True story: when I ran on Friday morning, a "real runner" (you could just tell) asked me how the roads were up ahead when we crossed paths. She asked ME! I'm pretty sure it was the leggings that made her feel comfortable relying on my road condition breakdown. Just sayin'.
Week 2 (3 days, planning on Mon, Wed, Fri again) is:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Last week's runs took me about 2 miles each time (slightly less). I'm curious to see how far these ones get me!
