A little recap...

Things I've been eating, doing, instagramming, etc...in case you missed it (or me).

Having dinner at Legal's last week: mahi mahi, cauliflower puree, olives and sun dried tomatoes, with fried artichoke spear thingies. Terrible picture of the most delicious thing ever.

Taking artistic pictures of my brick wall and new orange fuzzy blanket.

Taking cheesy kissy photos with this cute boy while shoveling out my car.

Noticing how many different directions kitten fur grows, particularly on kitten noses.

Getting spoiled rotten and having this delicious dinner cooked for me after going to the gym.

Finding this awesome mug.

Trying to figure out what this awesome animal is.

Waking up to this frightening sight.

Having it pointed out that my cat with no ears looks more than a little like Scar from the Lion King.

Having this stunning bouquet delivered to my work, just because.

Playing cards with my closest ladies.

Unexpected beauty

I couldn't help but notice that in the healing process of my broken toe, my toenail has now turned into stripes of blue and magenta, and if I don't mind saying so myself it's kind of pretty. My mom said I have a rainbow toe...then giggled and said I have a gay toe. Sigh...moms.

Behold!

NOTE: IF YOU LEAVE ANY COMMENTS ON HERE WITH DETAILS ABOUT HOW I'M GOING TO LOSE MY TOENAIL (looking at YOU, Stephanie) I WILL PERSONALLY HUNT YOU DOWN AND HURT YOU (AFTER I FINISH THROWING UP). I'm willing it to stay put.

Wait, what? WHOA.

I have the most ridiculous confession to make. As the daughter of an electrician (or maybe because I'm the daughter of an electrician) I have zero knowledge about electricity. In fact, I have a very healthy fear of respect for it.

Tonight I did the bravest thing I've ever done in terms of playing with electricity. I have an electric stove (boo, hiss) and I was trying to figure out how to clean the gross pans under the burners. I lift them up sometimes (ohhhh so gingerly) but I looked at them tonight and had enough. I know that you can buy new pans, so there MUST be a way to get them off. Yet they've always been kind of like one of those puzzles to me where you have to get the ring off the ropes but there's no opening.

I was cleaning near and around them, and suddenly I thought...what if I pull it?  I hesitantly gave it a tiny tug and nothing happened. I envisioned a large spark, maybe an explosion even, where my hair would singe off and my face would look like pizza for life. But I conquered the fear and realized I'm in my 30s, I live alone, and at the current time I have no one to come in and clean my stove top for me.

So I pulled it. AND OHMYGOD THOSE THINGS COME OUT!!!!

I know you probably already know this, and I'm glad I'm imparting the information via the internet so you can mock me in private, but if I could have taught one new person one new piece of information today my work here is done.

Next step: Changing a lightbulb with the light switch turned on. I'm fearless!

Friends of friends

This weekend I had the opportunity to meet the best guy friend of my best guy friend who I had not previously met. We had that moment upon meeting when he went to shake my hand and I went in for a hug (because, duh…we’re both best friends with the same best friend, which makes us step-best friends or some other weird connective relationship, right?). I’d be lying if I said that was the first (or fifth) time I’ve done that.

It’s just kind of a weird situation, where you see pictures of the other person and hear stories about them so often that you feel like you know them…but you don’t.

My personal belief is that if you can ever skip over the ‘getting to know someone’ phase and cut right to the friendship you should. I’m not one for small talk or censoring my thoughts, so I feel like it’s just easier and more fun to go from ‘so I hear you’re an accountant’ to ‘did I tell you about the time I sharted in church?’ as soon as possible.

Am I alone in this thought?

Does this have anything to do with anything? (No, it does not.)
